Apply a hot or cold compress to your back. If you suddenly feel back pain and need help, then you should use ice. If after 48 hours the pain still exists, then switch use 10 minutes of a hot compress and 10 minutes of an ice compress. Pain will slowly fade if you do this.
If you want to get rid of tension and stress, then stretch your muscles. The most common cause of back ache is tight muscles. Stretching is meant to relieve the tension. Stretch it as gently as you can. Being aggressive when you stretch won’t ease muscle tension. You should only stretch your muscles till they get tight, but not hurt. If you stretch the muscles too far, it will tight up immediately after you stop the stretch. Being very gentle is key!
Strengthen your back muscles. You will find a weak muscle opposite of a tight one. Stretching only your tight muscles will not create balance. You need to also improve the nerve and blood supply to the muscles that are weak.
