From grins to glances, infancy is full of precious moments that pass too quickly.
"He was laying there calm which at this age is kind of rare," says Demetria, a new mother.
These first time mothers have not only found a way to connect with their infants, but also a cure all for colicky, even sleep deprived kids.
"I feel clueless a lot of times with him, so it's good to have new ideas," says Emily, another new mother.
Infant Massage is ancient art in several countries, but the trend is just now spreading to tiny toes here in the U.S.
"Infant massage is a gift of love. It's a gift of trust," says Linda Logan with Gentle Touch Infant Massage Instruction. "It's 1 on 1 communication and bonding, and it's just a really nice way to interact with your baby."
Through Gentle Touch Infant Massage Instruction, Logan spends her days instructing parents and caregivers on the technique and it's healing powers.
"You're looking, you're touching, you're talking, you're moving, so it enhances all of the senses," adds Logan.
With gentle movements and a firm, but soft touch, these mothers learn to massage their baby from head to toe.
"My job is very short with the massages to teach and then to be gone."
The potential benefits are well received- improved digestion, sleep. Massage can even help calm colicky infants and teething toddlers. According to Logan, it also increases attention, attachment, communication and development.
"It's just really nice interaction between parent and baby."
"I enjoyed him just connecting with me," says Emily.
"I definitely think he enjoyed it. He was smiling and laughing, and I think it calmed him down definitely,"
